Big news from yesterday: Gordon Ramsey lifting us all up and a candidate for the Board of Education bringing us low.
If you didn’t get to see the Ellicott City episode of Gordon Ramsay’s show I feel certain that there will be future opportunities.
If you need to know what happened yesterday in the BOE race, you need to read this, from CAIR, the Council of American-Islamic Relations, from their office in Maryland:
CAIR Condemns Maryland County Board of Education Candidate’s Islamophobic Posts, Calls on County Republican Club to Repudiate.
This is targeted hate speech aimed at a group based on their religion. It doesn’t belong on the internet, it doesn’t belong in our community, and it most certainly does not belong on the board of education. In addition, this candidate has made a habit of posting sexist, misogynistic, racist, and anti-transgender content as well.
This pattern of hateful behavior is completely disqualifying. Our children deserve better.
I am not going to be making any official endorsements on the Board of Education primary election, as my experience with writing about redistricting looms large in my memory. Despite that, I can’t remain silent when a candidate for public office is so patently abusive of people it would be his responsibility to represent.
