I meant to go back and add in some links to April First posts of yesteryear but my day got away from me. So, here goes:
The first, and in many ways my favorite, is “Just Pitiful”, written in 2012. (This post actually fooled someone and I immediately reached out to apologize.)
Here’s “Television’s Top Stories” from 2014.
In 2015 I took an irreverent swipe at the BOE with “Protection”.
In 2018 I created some wishful thinking news stories in “Unlikely”.
And, just last year, my own personal episode of “Not the News” with assistance from readers.
I don’t know if I will ever attempt another April Fools Day themed post. I feel as though the world has changed in a way that makes such efforts less welcome. I’ll always be silly, off-beat, quirky. A bit of that slips into my writing regularly. But the thrill of elaborate trickery?
Probably not.
Bonus Content!
Facebook tells me that this is the anniversary that time when Village Green/Town² went all in for another local spoof of sorts. I wonder whatever happened to Colonel Gateway? I really miss that guy.
