Going Against the Grain

It’s January and that means that everywhere you turn you will be bombarded with adverts for weight loss programs, gyms, exercise equipment, home organizing products, and - - a relative newcomer - - suggestions for Dry January.

What ever happened to January White Sales?

If you need a palate cleanser from all of that self-improvement may I suggest:

Yes, that’s right. Creepy Dolls. Creepy Doll Weekend is coming up at Scrap Bmore with a Creepy Doll Parts Sale.

Heads, hair, arms, legs, clothing, patterns, and partially made dolls!

Although Scrap Bmore is clearly not HoCoLocal, I have a soft spot in my heart for their mission. You may recall I wrote about them way back in 2018 (“Creative ReUse”)

…I was deliriously happy to learn of  Scrap B-More, a store that is run completely on donations of craft materials and sells them at a huge discount. Their goal is to keep unwanted items out of landfills.

Think of them as a sort of Upcycled for craft materials. Even creepy dolls.

If you want to stay local, this TikTok video from Ellicott City Pix suggest a closer source.

Attic Antiques on Main Street in Old Ellicott City is apparently well-stocked. Although, this video was made about a month ago, so supplies may have dwindled. Perhaps it would be wise to call first.

Still, a field trip to Scrap Bmore in Pigtown this weekend could be quite the adventure. I love the tagline for their event - - “so creepy, they’re fun!”

If you have time after purchasing necessities for your new diet and Dry January, working out at the gym, and organizing your home - -  or if you’d rather do anything but - - the creepy dolls at Scrap Bmore beckon.
