There’s an online challenge of sorts going around right now. Perhaps it’s more of a meme. It looks like this:
Five topics you can talk about for 30 minutes without preparation:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Have you seen it? Have you taken a stab at it? In some ways it’s a reminder that each of us has ways in which we could comfortably speak as experts, or, more accurately, with deep interest.
For me:
1. Early childhood education
2. Process art
3. How music benefits education
4. The hilarity of newspaper bloopers, typos, etc.
5. LGBTQ+ acceptance
Since this is a local blog, I wonder if I could do a local five?
1. What I learned running for the CA Board
2. Getting lost in Columbia
3. Why I love our libraries
4. Creeping segregation and why it matters
5. The ongoing battles between East and West
What about you? Can you think about a local topic you could talk about for 30 minutes without advance preparation?
Let me know.
