We’re going to have a big shake-up on the County Council come November. It looks like outgoing members may be tying up some loose ends before they go. Exhibit A:
Howard Republican to push for solar pause at Tuesday legislative session, April Santana, Baltimore Sun
I don’t have much to say about this because the article doesn’t contain the information necessary to evaluate Council member David Yungmann’s request.
“Solar sounds great to a lot of folks, but all of the negative impacts are falling on the rural west,” Yungmann said. “The residents of the rural west are receiving virtually none of the benefits.”
Here’s what I need to know:
Solar sounds great to a lot of folks.
Why does solar sound great to a lot of folks? Elaborate.
All of the negative impacts are falling on the rural west.
What are the negative impacts of solar that are falling on the rural west? Please list.
The residents of the rural west are receiving virtually none of the benefits.
What are the benefits of solar that the residents of the rural west are not receiving? Please list.
Without this information what the reader has received is an article saying “David Yungmann wants to do a thing.” Without evidence it comes down to if you like the Council member or not.* Sheesh.
And here’s Exhibit B:
Howard’s nonprofit grant requirements could get tighter with proposed legislation, April Santana, Baltimore Sun
Howard County Council member Deb Jung plans to introduce legislation Tuesday evening that would place stricter rules on nonprofits soliciting county grants.
and
Though Jung asserts the legislation is not something that “just popped up,” it covers points raised in recent discussions about the county’s projected multimillion dollar community center, a controversial election issue in the race for the county executive position.
Oh.
Friends, I am still livid about how what is described here as “a controversial issue” was handled during the recent election. In fact, I am so angry that I’m not going to say anything more about Jung’s proposal other than to share it here for your information.
We have two more Council Members leaving this year. Will they have any final issues they want to address? Or is there anything I haven’t seen?
I’m interested in how our local representatives want to finish their terms. What is that last thing they want to accomplish? How do they want to be remembered?
Why? Just curious, I guess.
*Or possibly whether or not you like solar.
