Channeling HowChow

Yesterday I heard that the Hickory Ridge Grill is closing. It’s always been our go-to after church place. I don’t know the particulars but I wonder if it has anything to do with the protracted process of redeveloping the Village Center. I do know my family and I will miss them.

Speaking of beloved gathering places, JK’s Pub is legendary. It’s another place I’m sorry to have missed in the evolution of the Columbia. The Second Chance Saloon in Oakland Mills is having a JK’s Pub Reunion this Saturday, May 12, at 6:00 pm. The owners will be there. This is a lovely tip of the hat from one old neighborhood joint to another.

In the meantime, all kinds of new restaurants are opening around town and it’s fun to read excited posts from those of you are are attending soft opening events. Does anything look good? What would you recommend?

Miss you, HowChow. This would be a great time to hear from HoCo’s favorite food maven, don’t you think?
