  1. I was the star of the fourth grade play.
  2. I have terrible fine motor skills.
  3. I once considered a career in food service.
  4. I love lavender-scented sheets.
  5. I chose Elizabeth, mother of John, as my saint's name because she is not a virgin, widow, or martyr.
  6. I once had an irrational fear of old birthday party balloons.
  7. I sang in the Yale Freshman Chorus even though I didn't go to Yale.
  8. I attended a party at Mount Holyoke where Albert, Prince of Monaco, was rumored to be in attendance.
  9. I am eligible to be a Daughter of the American Revolution and a Daughter of the Confederacy, but have never pursued it.
  10. My two sisters and I used to sing in three part harmony and called ourselves "The Lemon Sisters."
  11. I thought I was fat in high school. I wasn't. I wish I had known.

A: Pineapple upside-down cake.

A: Indoor: crafting. Outdoor: picnicking or writing in my journal under an umbrella at the beach.

A: Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way.


Q: If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? 

A: I've always wanted to go back in time to discover if my husband and I ever met each other before we actually "met" each other. We were in a lot of the same places at the same time.


Q: When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time? 

A: Two words: social media.


Q: What would you name the autobiography of your life? 

A: "Heart On Her Sleeve."


Q: What was the last movie, TV show or book that made you cry or tear up? 

A: My daughter's blog post--"A Letter to Me".


Q: What did you do growing up that got you into trouble? 

A: Being myself and not doing things my mother's way.

A: In my husband's classroom.

This is where I was ten years ago. Not all of these answers would be the same today. Rereading it this morning it brought to mind the speed round on Kelly Corrigan’s interview show, “Tell Me More.” Have you ever watched her show? Each interview is thoughtful and moves along at a leisurely pace. She explores many serious topics. But them right at the end - - boom! - - the Speed Round. Some questions are light-hearted, some tug at your heartstrings. They often reveal things you weren’t necessarily expecting.

I look at my answers from ten years ago and see someone who was intent on explaining that she just wasn’t like other people. Ten years on, I know a lot more about why
