Her Instagram account is called Sarah Sundae. She likes BTS, is a natural at using social media, plays the guitar, and loves iced coffee. Oh, and one more thing she’d like you to know:
I can’t afford a wheelchair van for my son.
Sarah’s son young Rowan experienced a life-threatening illness at the age of two which triggered a series of seizures causing profound and lasting damage.
Today, Rowan needs complete and total assistance to walk, talk, and eat. The seizures left extensive damage to all parts of his brain including the brain steam and myelin sheath.
A wheelchair-accessible van would enable her to transport her son more easily and safely as he grows. Rowan is seven now, and he absolutely is growing. The cost for these vehicles is in the neighborhood of 60,000 dollars.
Here’s a link to her Go Fund Me account to learn more:
Help Rowan gain mobility with a wheelchair van,
Sarah’s Instagram account details her day-by-day journey to raise the funds to buy the van. She has become a dog walker to start the van fund going.
I’ve decided to see how much I can save through side hustles, odd jobs, and opportunities.
Here’s some good news for you if you like cupcakes:
Local business Icing On The Cake is running a special this week that will benefit Rowan’s Van Fund.
From Tuesday through Saturday this week they will be serving a VERY special cupcake created just for Rowan: Rowan's Chocolate Dream Cupcake. For EVERY Rowan's cupcake sold, $2.50 will be donated directly toward Rowan's wheelchair van fundraiser! So this week, you can literally eat a cupcake and help get Rowan one step closer to his wheelchair van.
Icing on the Cake is located at 8205 Snowden River Pkwy, Suite D, in Columbia.
The first post I read on Bluesky this morning was this one:
Disabled and chronically ill people deserve equitable access to absolutely everything that health-privileged people have.
I truly believe this. There are enough resources in the world to support this - - if we made it a priority. If we made this choice.
