Happy Wednesday. I am working on at least three different stories at the moment. Each has just one small piece missing. To give you an idea of how that’s going - - I was searching for images of a particular local tower and Google gave me this:
So it’s safe to say that things aren’t exactly coming together the way I’d like them to at the moment.
Yesterday I had a fun and informative sneak peek at a new local business that many of us are awaiting eagerly. More on that this weekend. A hint:
Don’t forget: today’s the Roy Peart Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser at HCC. (See yesterday’s post.)
Highly recommended: this post about the Key bridge from friend of the blog Marge Neal.
It Was Ours, Marge Neal, Scribbles from the Margen
It offers a perspective that I could never have, of a bridge that’s not merely a landmark on a map but a part of the family. Here’s a snippet to whet your appetite:
The bridge was ours. In traveling the bridge in our daily commute, we forged relationships with friendly toll-takers. We deliberately drove to specific toll booth lanes so we could chat with our favorite workers for a few seconds; a few seconds longer if no one was behind us.
Finish it all off with this short film by Paul Flinton:
“One Dollar” Francis Scott Key Bridge and its Toll Collectors, 1987 (Six minutes, seven seconds)
Enjoy the view.
