A Hot Night of Cool Jazz

It's finally Friday and time to unveil the very first ever giveaway on Village Green/Town Squared. In order to celebrate surpassing the 100 "Like" mark on my blog's Facebook page, I will be giving away...

Drumroll please...

Wait, let's review the hints, shall we?

  • Hint Number 4: truly American/authentic Latin influence.
  • Hint Number 3: the years 1971 and 1996 are significant.
  • Hint Number 2: this giveaway has a connection to a place that has recently been in the news.
  • Hint Number 1: it's local, it's musical, and you don't want to miss it.

The winner of this giveaway will receive two tickets to Wilde Lake High School's Jazz @ the Lake Concert! This year's concert features Latin jazz great Paquito D’Rivera. will perform on Saturday, January 24, 2015 (7:30 pm) at the Jim Rouse Theatre in Columbia, MD. The 12-time Grammy-winning saxophone and clarinet master will headline at the 11th annual Jazz @ The Lake Concert, accompanied by noted jazz musicians Diego Urcola (trumpet), Alex Brown (piano), Zach Brown (bass), Eric Doob (drums), and Paulo Stagnaro (percussion).

You'll also hear the award-winning Wilde Lake High School Jazz Ensemble. They'll open the show and perform a joint piece with D’Rivera. And yes, I stole Wilde Lake High School Band Director's Lewis Dutrow's comment that that you're in for a "hot night of cool jazz", because it's just too good to pass up.

Tickets for this musical extravaganza are $25.00 apiece, with proceeds supporting the Wilde Lake High School Music Department. But, if you win, you and your guest will pick up your tickets at the door for a jazz-lover's paradise.

Here's how to enter. 1) If you haven't "liked" my blog on Facebook yet--please do. 2) Share this blog post on Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #WildeJazz. The giveaway begins today and will end January 16th.

I am using Rafflecopter to run the contest. Can't wait to see who wins!
