Tuesday Night Treat

I had the opportunity to catch up with an old friend last night and I got to pick the place. I chose Cured, because I rarely get the chance to go there, and also because they have been so consistently supportive of area nonprofits. I was happy with my choice.

To begin with, the service was friendly and perfectly timed throughout. Not obsequious or intrusive. Just right. The food was delicious, and drinks were refilled without fuss. My friend and I had plenty of time to chat without feeling rushed.

Cured is a “real” sit down restaurant and not the usual “fast-casual” that my family usually chooses. As such it is not cheap. My fish sandwich, paprika fries, and two lovely glasses of pale ale came in at around $27.00 before tip. Compared to the recently departed Lupa, though, it’s a bargain. All in all, for the experience in its entirety, I’d say it’s a good value.

Still, the restaurant, the ambiance, the food and the drink took a back seat to spending time with someone I hadn’t gotten at chance to sit down with in years. I don’t do that often enough. You can’t put a dollar value on that. As they say in the advertising world: priceless.
